Summer Lips

Saturday 3 August 2013

Recently I've indulged in more and more lipsticks and I thought I'd share with you all the ones I've been constantly wearing throughout the summer months so far.

Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Shade 13/ £2.50

I decided to go to my local Factory Shop and I was surprised to see that they were selling some Rimmel London lipsticks. I'd wanted to buy one of these for months but was never sure what shade to get. When I found the lipsticks there was only this shade or a dark maroon shade, so I decided to get this one for the upcoming summer months. I really like the vivacity of the colour. I'd describe the colour when it's applied as a bright watermelon red. I was  impressed with how long the colour lasted and that it didn't dry my lips out. The pigmentation of this lipstick is fantastic! You only need to apply one layer and you're good to go!

Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick 825 Pink Brandy*

This lipstick is brighter than it looks. When I first saw the colour I didn't think I'd like it at all, but when I applied it, it looked a complete different colour than what it looked like in the packaging. Max Factor claim that it will give you smoother and softer lips within 7 days because the Elixir formula contains a 60% blend of skin emollients, conditioners and antioxidants including vitamin E. I haven't worn this lipstick for 7 days straight but despite creamy lipsticks having a history of drying my lips out this did do it's job and kept my lips moisturized throughout the day. I think the pigmentation is great and I'm a killer for cute lipstick names. I'd describe the colour as a subtle coral with a pinky tone. It lasts a good 2-3 hours and even when it begins to disappear you are still left with a slight lip tint which I really like as you don't feel you have to reapply as quickly as you still have a slight hint of colour there.

Barry M Lip Paint TMLP/£4.49

You're all probably thinking what the hell is this? That's exactly what I thought when I first saw this peculiar lipstick. The way it works is that the Alkali level of your lips determines how pink the colour will go, don't ask me how that works, I was never any good at science. They claim that it lasts up to 8 hours and how right they are! I've never known a lip stain to live up to it's reputation, this stuff literally doesn't budge, even after taking it off you're still left with slightly stained lips. It's more of a glossy tint than a lipstick. It's also great to put over a lipstick to add a bit of moisture and shine. Definitely one of my favourites for long lasting wear.

BeYu Color Touch Lip Biggie/26 Wild Cherry/ €9.99

When I went to Italy I just couldn't resist trying out some European make up. I firstly saw the Clinique Chubby Stick but the woman in the drugstore pointed me over to the brand BeYu which she said were exactly the same. The slender pencil applicator makes it so quick and easy to apply.  The pencil glides like a gel over the lips and gives them a touch of bursting colour. It smells gorgeous, which makes it even more pleasant to wear. This is definitely my favourite out of the four lipsticks.  It's a lip balm, lip gloss and lip stick, a triple lip threat. I am so gutted that I can't find them anywhere  in the UK.

What are your favourite summer lip products this year?
