Charity Shop Haul

Thursday, 20 February 2014

I am a great charity shop lover as I'm sure you will all know, so today I thought I'd give you a recent charity shop haul. Lets get down to business then.!

Reworked skirt / £2.99
Ring dish / £1.50
Dark tartan scarf / £1.99
White tartan scarf / 50p

I've been looking online recently for a pretty ring dish for my room, but the few that I found just weren't to my specific taste and some way overpriced for what they were. So I took to the charity shops as I usually do and there it was sitting there smiling at me. I really love the floral embellishment in the dish as it gives it a splash of colour and gets me in the mood for spring. It's the perfect size for all of my rings (so far) and is just handy in the morning when i'm in a rush and I can just run an grab one on my way out. Now I have one I see them everywhere in charity shops, if I'm not careful I'll end up with a whole collection of ring dishes in my bedroom.

I have to thank my lovely mother for this find. On her travels she always pops into charity shops and rummages until she finds something I wouldn't even pick out, but I'm extremely glad she picked this out. This skirt was originally a midi but again my mother being the kind loving woman she is, turned it up for me. I wear this skirt at least once a week because it's so easy to style with things and is just perfect for the winter months where the only things I seem to wear are monochrome. The pattern is just basic which again helps when trying to style it with something. I just love this skirt and I can see it being a staple piece for the years to come.

I am a huge lover of tartan and checks. I'm not a fan of bright red tartan, but I'm a lover of the dark's, as again they're so much easier to style with pieces. I've picked up so many checked scarfs in the past but these by far are my favourites. The top scarf is really long whereas the bottom scarf is one where it will just sit around your neck, so it's great depending on how cold it is that I have a choice of multiple scarfs. They're a great accessory to spice up a plain outfit.

Lou Lou's Vintage Fair

Sunday, 16 February 2014

Hello my lovelies!

Today I thought I'd take you out with me to a magical place in which dreams are made of, a vintage fair. As soon as I found out Lou Lou's Vintage Fair was coming to Norwich I had no choice but to go and delve into tons and tons of beautiful garments. It was a really lovely day out and for a vintage fair it was pretty dam cheap (not that i'm complaining), each stall was a different era to the next, it was almost like travelling back in time.
Stalls ranged from clothing, shoes, jewelry, fur pieces, home ware and millions of beautiful accessories. If a vintage fair comes near to where you live I highly suggest going, even if you don't buy anything It's a great cheap day out (this fair was only £2 entry). Here are just a few pictures I took at the fair.

Seeing Checks

Tuesday, 3 December 2013

I suppose you could call this a 'rant but not a rant' kind of post. See at the minute I am OBSESSED with all things checked and tartan but it pains me to pay £20 for a checked shirt, which when you look at them, they're not anything special. I'm known for loving a charity/thrift shop or two, and you'll be amazed at how many cheap checked shirts you'll find in them. All of these checked shirts in this photo are from Charity shops and Car boots which ranged from £1 to £3. Some people have a schema that charity shops are where people send their old tattered clothes which smell a bit. In some cases yes that is true, but in most cases it's where people give away their clothes that they've grown out of or just don't wear anymore which are in perfectly good condition and don't smell at all. So next time you see that over priced clothes tag, pop into a charity shop because you'll be surprised what you'll find.
