My Everyday Makeup

Friday, 20 June 2014

I made one of these posts way over a year ago, so I thought it'd be about time I updated you all on what I paint on my face every day.

All of my products (excluding the naked palette) are off the high street and can be found in shops such as superdrug/boots/supermarket. Being a student I can't afford all the fancy products many of  the YouTubers/bloggers use, so I try to find cheap but good quality alternatives that work well with my skin. I understand that everyone is different when it comes to makeup and what they use, some of my staple products might be products that you loathe, but what I use are products that I find work well with my skin type (dry to normal). I'll try link the products I used down below or the rough price and place where you can buy them from.

Base products
LACURA Aqua-complete serum: Aldi (£3.99)

Powders
e.l.f. High Definition Undereye Setting Powder (can't find it on website, but was around £3)

Eyes
L'oreal Paris Eyeshadow in matte 106 (used to fill in eyebrows) £5
Urban Decay Naked Palette (used colours Foxy, Tease, Chopper and Verve)

Applicators
Real techniques Brushes (Buffer and contour from Core collection and the Eyes starter set)
Bare Minerals Powder Brush

Summer Essentials

Sunday, 15 June 2014

In the summer I like to go back to basics to give my face and body the well needed break it needs. So I thought I'd show you my staple essentials that I use on a day to day basis to make sure i'm feeling peachy in these summer months.

Top Row (left to right)
Rimmel London's BB Cream: I only tend to use this when I know I will be leaving the house or going out for the day, not when I'm having a chill day at home. It's a 9-in-1 product which I love as it just saves you splurging on multiple products, the more space in my makeup bag the better. It claims that it primes, moisturises, minimises pores, conceals, covers, smoothes, mattifies, brightens and helps protect (SPF 25) I'd say it does the majority of these things apart from minimise pores (but I can't seem to find anything on the market that can). It's medium coverage, which is buildable , but you have to remember that its not a foundation so it won't be as high a coverage, it's a sheer cover up which gives you a bit more colour and brightens up your face. It's been my go to product, as it's quick and easy to apply, which means I can be out of the house within 10 minutes.

Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer: I use this before applying my BB cream. I use it to cover up my dark under eye circles. I find that it covers them perfectly and brightens up my eyes making me look wide awake and ready for the day ahead. I also use it on the top of my lid as an eye shadow base/primer, as it conceals my veins on my eyelid (too much information?) and just gives me a nice balanced fleshy undertone to build upon with my eye shadow.

Vaseline Rosy Lips: I live for this product, it is hands down the only lip balm that will get rid of the crustiness of my lips. It works as a lip balm and tint, the Vaseline inside is the colour of the outside of the packaging, so it literally does what it says on the tin and gives me rosy lips. I've tried the other Vaselines (Original, Aloe Vera etc.) but I find they just don't work as well, I think this is because the "Rosy Lips" uses Rose and Almond oil in its formula, and Almond oil used to be my savior when I was a child. PRAISE THE LORD FOR ALMONDS AND THE OIL THEY POSSESS

Bottom Row (left to right)
Vaseline Spray & Go: Keeping to the theme of Vaseline (oh hey that rhymed) last summer I became addicted to their spray on body moisturiser. I just found it so quick and no hassle to use, it absorbs in seconds and would leave my whole body smelling of cocoa butter and as soft as a baby's bottom. I have quite sensitive skin so I have to careful when it comes to moisturiser, face creams, make up wipes etc. It's like skin care roulette, will I or won't I come out in a red rash all over my body? Anyway back on track, I found this so gentle upon the skin and it just smelt quite natural and not filled with hundreds of chemicals. Again it does what it says on the tin "Spray & Go".

Lacura Aqua Complete Serum: I've heard so many good things about Aldi's skincare range so I decided to try it out myself and I haven't looked back since. I apply this every day and night and it's supposed to help your skin hold and lock in moisture. My face always goes quite dry and scaly which isn't fun, and this just rejuvenates and prepares my face for the next day. Some days I use the serum as a moisturiser alone, which has shown the massive improvement in my skins moisture levels, and I've found since not using such a heavy moisturiser that my skin's had less blemishes and unwanted guests. Pleasantly surprised by a supermarket brand.

Nivea Powder Touch Deodorant: Just your bog standard deodorant. This deodorant uses some kind of talcum powder formula which when sprayed on, stops the appearance of sweating as it dries it up and keeps your armpits dry all day. The smell is very reminiscent of talc and white musk, which is a smell that I love! Just a perfect deodorant for those hot summer days.

What is one of your summer essentials?

OOTD Autumn Leaves

Sunday, 20 October 2013

Hello you beautiful people! It's been far too long since I've made a post for you all! I got carried away with the stress of A levels, but i'm back and I thought I'd give you all something a little different today, I'm not usually an OOTD kind of girl but I volunteered myself forward to be a model for my friend Britts (BrittsBazaar) Media project and University portfolio. I take no credit for the outfit as it was all styled beautifully by Britt, but I'd thought I'd share with you all what I'm wearing!

Look's Loud Lips Review

Monday, 21 January 2013

As most of you probably know, LOOK magazine released their own make up range late last year. I've never been a huge sucker for lip sticks, but every time I've gone into superdrug, LOOK's range always catches my eye so I thought I'd give it a try. I picked toffee cup (shade 4) as I don't think bright and loud colours suit me, I'd only ever wear strong colours if I'm going on a night out I absolutely loved this colour. I thought it was a nice neutral shade that I could wear everyday. It had a flat bottom so it was easy to stand upright. It isn't drying, and doesn't leave your lips chapped beyond repair. My only criticism is that you have to re-apply later on in the day as the colour wears off. They're only usually £7 each which I think is a reasonable price for a new high street brand. But I only paid £3.50 for it in superdrug, which I think has LOOK's range on offer at the minute.

Zuneta Sample Reviews

Sunday, 13 January 2013

I was recently looking through Zoellas blog and I came across a post about PRs and she mentioned and left a link for this cosmetic website called Zuneta who she really praised for the quality of their make up. As most of Zoellas previous recommendations have been reliable, I checked out their website, and the make up seemed really high quality. The make up was quite expensive so I ordered 3 samples to test which ones I wanted and what shade best suited me.

If you want to order some samples, I would do it quickly as they sell out fast!
These aren't the only samples but you can only order 3 at a time.

LE METIER DE BEAUTE - CLASSIC FLAWLESS FOUNDATION-SHADE 06

This was my favourite of the two foundations I sampled. The foundation itself is probably a medium to build able coverage. The consistency is quite thin, and watery, but didn't feel wet on my skin when applied. I found that you didn't need to apply a lot to achieve an all over coverage. Although the coverage was good, it didn't last for as long as I expected, so by the end of the day you look as if you never put any on in the first place.

BECCA - LUMINOUS SKIN COLOUR- TOAST

I hate to be negative about a product, but this foundation really didn't work well on my skin. I found it made my skin really oily and shiny and even with the application of powder on top. It also gave my skin a slight yellowy glow which I really didn't like, I felt like it made me look unwell and washed out and didn't give me the healthy glow I wanted. Compared to the classic flawless foundation, I was really disappointed with it's results.

ROUGE BUNNY ROUGE - HIGHLIGHTING LIQUID - SEAS OF ILLUMINATION-  SEA OF SHOWERS

This was by far my favourite product of them all, and I can't wait until I have enough money to buy this off the website because I absolutely love it! It's smooth , thin and you don't need a lot of it to apply so it's a long lasting product. It just gives you a glowing complexion, that lasts all day. It's great if you're feeling washed out and you want to put some colour back into your face. It is also extremely easy to use and very versatile. You can mix this with your foundation or apply it on top or underneath. The pigment is very
rich with a high metallic finish. It glides on the skin like a dream, smells good and does
it's job perfectly: catching light!

I would strongly recommend this product to anyone who's looking for a good worth while highlighter. This to me is the best one around by far.

Until next time..
